about

Recorded during the G.R.O. Marshall House recording sessions.
The song came together quickly after J. Paul discovered the story in one of Dave's notebooks. The lyrics are from an in-flight adventure Dave had in his head while witnessing two female environmentalists that were sitting in front of him attempting to justify their first class seats. The band had been playing into a rawness riff of J. Paul & Doug. Jammed the riff, added the lyrics, a few arrangement ideas and tracked it live.

lyrics

Toads are hoppin' like sugar mice in the hope of social approval.
...and I miss you.
Perhaps I would have wanted to quit a school so sparsely settled and all but closed.
Perhaps I would however faint as the site of the defanged, declawed and domesticated.
I miss you
Well, I miss you
Yeah, I miss you
Yes, indeed synthetics get me down.
Yes, indeed civilization seems unfounded.
Maps now show a postage stamp equals half my life or some other mishap and I will have to send for help and hope I don't die before it comes.
You're lucky the souvenir of a bullet wound, once inspiring and humbling like valleys jewelled with glacial lakes, wasn't keeping you awake.
You're lucky that the first aborigines were reduced to microbial dimensions.
In fact, it is rough before me, where the lumpy, boggy ground worries about the relentless pressures of modern civilization.
The only visible works of man are countless tussocks with tiny gullies in between.
Toads are hoppin' like sugar mice in the hope of social approval.
...and I miss you.
...and I miss you.
Well, I miss you.
